Burbank City Council Meeting Summary - 1-14-25
A brief overview of the topics and decisions made at the 1-14-25 city council meeting
On Tuesday, Jan. 14th, 2025, the city council met to discuss several items.
Here is my summary of our discussions and decisions.
Burbank City Parks and Recreation Master Plan: City Council received an study session on the city-wide masterplan for the next 5 years of parks and rec development and programming. The full plan is here.
Update from Burbank Fire and Burbank Water and Power: City council received a comprehensive update on the emergency response coordination process during the wind event and resulting fires. Watch the update here.
Burbank Housing Corporation Funding Restructure: City council finalized the first phase of an updated funding structure for the Burbank Housing Corporation, which is the city’s primary provider of affordable housing. This is an important step to pave the way for the production of high quality affordable housing.
Appointments to the Planning Board and the Infrastructure Oversight Board: Apraham Atteukenian was appointed to the Planning Board. Council extended the application window for the IOB for another 30 days.
Solar Net Billing transition: City council approved a transition to Net Billing for solar customers, to begin late 2025/early 2026 for new solar customers. The process is somewhat complicated, as we discussed during the meeting. Feel free to reach out to me or to BWP directly if you have any questions.
Determination of Councilmember committee and liaison appointments: Council discussed who will represent the council on various internal and external committees and boards. I was appointed to the following:

Sustainable Burbank CommissionDiscussion of Tesla Battery storage contract: Council received a report on the status of the Tesla Battery storage contract, and an update on the warranty purchase.
